Compression for Every Stage of the Renewable-Gas Process

Gas compression can be required before upgrading, after biomethane production, at the grid-injection point or before storage, transport and vehicle fuelling. Each application places different demands on gas purity, pressure ratio, flow flexibility, materials, cooling and control.

Fornovogas compressor packages are engineered around the actual process conditions. The gas composition, suction and discharge pressures, minimum and maximum flow, operating profile, site conditions and applicable certifications all influence the final configuration.

Applications

Raw Biogas Compression

Oil-free compressors raise raw biogas to the pressure required by the upgrading process without introducing lubricating oil into the gas stream. Fornovogas offers configurations for membrane upgrading as well as water washing, amine treatment and pressure-swing adsorption.

Biomethane and Grid Injection

After upgrading, biomethane can be compressed to the pressure required at the relevant grid connection. The compressor is sized around the upstream delivery pressure, network pressure, flow profile and gas-quality requirements at the specific injection point.

Bio-CNG Compression and Fuelling

High-pressure compressor systems can prepare biomethane for buffer storage, trailer filling or vehicle fuelling. Fornovogas supplies non-lubricated CNG compressor platforms and related station equipment for different capacities and operating models.

CO₂ Compression

Fornovogas also supplies oil-free reciprocating compressors for biogenic CO₂ recovery and liquefaction processes. The compressor configuration depends on the CO₂ composition, inlet conditions and required downstream pressure.

Future Gas Applications

Dedicated Fornovogas compressor platforms are also available for hydrogen and other technical gases. These require application-specific materials, sealing systems, safety measures and engineering.

Bare-shaft compressors undergo mechanical testing, while complete packaged systems are performance- and leak-tested before shipment. European projects can be configured for requirements including ATEX, PED, the Machinery Directive and EMC compliance.
